Danchigai focuses on the life of Haruki Nakano and his four sisters, all of whom live together in the same apartment complex. The only boy of five siblings, Haruki lives with his older sister Mutsuki, difficult younger sister Yayoi, and mischievous twins Uzuki and Satsuki.

The Review:

With Yayoi having been kept to the sidelines for a bit, she gets more attention this time around as Haruki has become ill and has simply collapsed in his room. It’s Yayoi that finds him and reluctantly has to take care of him for a bit in the middle of the night. Life with Haruki in bed feels weird to everyone as the day goes on though and a lot of time with Haruki by himself just sleeping away the illness. But Yayoi does her best to take care of him in her own awkward way since she takes the day off from school, though she certainly didn’t expect to have to help him to the bathroom. There’s a lot of simple little chores that she does here to help and it has a really cute awkwardness about it coupled with misunderstandings by others that just elevates it to a whole other level of silliness.

In Summary:
As cute as this episode is, it feels like it missed a number of opportunities for some good silliness with Haruki down and out as well as the pervy side of things. Yayoi has some decent moments here as she struggles with it and Haruki himself, for the few moments he’s really conscious. It’s not a bad episode and some of the reactions of others are priceless, but it feels like a lot of missed chances for something a lot funnier and/or a lot more heartwarming.
