Kaoru is an OL you can find anywhere, serious and works diligently, but her husband is a super otaku and more-or-less a NEET. She is caught up in one of her husband’s whims one day or the subject of his concerns another, but the two are so close that it’s embarrassing to even watch them!

After dealing with some problems the last time around about the whole pregnancy thing itself and the way they communicated, this one takes things in a different direction that has them actively fighting. Which is cute with the cats and dogs sound in the background. The main focus is about what to name the child, which you can imagine could be complicated considering the people involved. What eases things is that after some time passes, al their friends show up and we get a good bit of fun as they essentially draw the name from a hat with everyone watching. That works pretty well in the end as they’re having a girl and will be calling her Sayoko. There’s a great kind of tenderness to it that helps to draw the season to a close, which is followed up with some very cute images under the credits with an idea of how their lives are about to change going forward. It’s the right kind of mellow that really hits home.

In Summary:
While it’s been over thirteen years since I had to deal with the whole naming of a child thing, this definitely brings back all sorts of memories. There’s a lot of fun in this series with its overall tone and style as we get this husband and wife couple that have ups and downs and everything in between as they go about their lives. The series didn’t stick to flat out gag material, nor did it just opt to be serious and quiet in tone. It lived its run like life itself with all the variations that exist. The finale gives us a good sense of closure about where the couple stands and how their life is going to change, but I really want more of this to see what’s in store for them. This is another one of those shows where I crave the manga, but know that it’s beyond unlikely to get picked up, and that the anime run itself is pretty much at an end. Very recommended all around.
