Kaoru is an OL you can find anywhere, serious and works diligently, but her husband is a super otaku and more-or-less a NEET. She is caught up in one of her husband’s whims one day or the subject of his concerns another, but the two are so close that it’s embarrassing to even watch them!

The curse of an otaku is always wanting more and more, and see Kaoru dealing with the way Hajime’s hobby takes up so much space can be frustrating. His suggestion – after apologizing at least – is for her to get a hobby so she can figure out what it’s like. Of course, she goes in a different direction and we get her and some others going bowling for the day, which is definitely a fun thing to do in the city. Hajime is hilarious to watch with his wild takes and actual inability to play while others are worse in a different way but continue to score well. The various teams here get some great screen visuals accompanying it about their team abilities. There’s some decent background stuff going on here with the way Hajime talks with Tanaka about things, which helps to add the adult weight to things, but mostly we get plenty of bowling.

In Summary:
Getting out of the house for a bit happens with several of the episodes in the series to date and it’s usually a good thing. This episode is no exception with what it does it does here as it gets the couple going bowling and having a lot of fun there with that – and not just by themselves, but with a lot of their friends. Showing this aspect hits some good emotional notes in how these are decently rounded characters. Hajime in particular continues to come across well with what he does in being a sympathetic character when it comes to his hobbies and passions, but also apologizing over it. That just feels so rare…
