With a bit of luck we should have two reviews of this film when it hits this weekend as it continues to defy all the expectations and naysayings of those from the past year since the accelerated schedule went into place for this production, the changes that were made and everything else. After months and months of it being criticized without a frame of real footage shown, the first trailer turn a lot of peoples attentions on it in a positive way. And the first round of reviews by the geek circle has certainly been enthusiastic to say the least, but now we’re getting into the mainstream crowd and the “in the street” fans as the movie hits this Friday. Fox has put out a pair of new TV spots, two of many they’ve had recently, and there’s a new clip as well to check out to whet your appetite.
Plot summary: X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.
