VAP is set to release the box set for Death Parade in separate DVD and Blu-ray box sets, having bypassed the singles route for the winter 2015 season, and ahead of that release next week they’ve got a new lengthy promo out. Clocking in at eight minutes, it samples the soundtrack that’s included with the set while showing off a lot of animation and noting which tracks it’s showcasing as well. The series will get its release on June 17th, 2015 in three different configurations. There’ll be a limited edition Blu-ray box set at 30,000 yen, a regular Blu-ray box set at 22,000 yen and a DVD box set at 18,000 yen.
The limited edition release comes with five audio commentaries with the cast that are for episodes 2, 5, 7, 11 and 12. Additional on disc extras include the promo collection and notices, the clean opening and closing, screening event material and the Death Billiards piece. The set comes with liner notes, the original soundtrack, storyboard material and a special CD with the three part radio sessions and multiple guest-talk segments that covered a lot of the episode with the cast in talking about the show as it aired.
The regular edition has all the on-disc extras and just a booklet.
The twelve episode series is being produced at Madhouse with original creator Yuruzu Tachikawa set to direct.Shinichi Kurita is on board as the character designer and chief animation director. The series stars Tomoaki Maeno, Asami Seto, Rumi Ookubo and Yoshimasa Hosoya.
Plot Concept: “Welcome to Queen Dekim” What greets two unsuspecting guests is a strange bar, Queen Dekim, and the white-haired bartender, Dekim. “From here you two shall begin a battle where your lives hang in the balance,” he says to introduce the Death Game.
