Aniplex Japan is getting things moving with their plans for the Gunslinger Stratos home video release, and like how they do most of their releases, they’re only soliciting it one volume at a time. The first volume has now been set for a May 27th, 2015 release where the Blu-ray LE is priced at 4,000 yen and the DVD LE is priced at 3,000 yen. It’s listed as a two disc set with the second disc presumably being a soundtrack or bonus items, but no details have been released about what to expect with it or other on disc extras at this time other than it having some sort of bonus episode. The first release is priced much lower than normal as it will have only one episode on it.
The show is animated by a-1 Pictures for the spring 2015 anime season. The series is being done as an original story from Gen Urobuchi with Shinpei Ezaki of Guilty Crown on board to direct based on scripts by Norimitsu Kaiho. Shinichi Yokoya is handling the character designs for the series. The cast from the game are reprising their roles here and the first promotional spot has been released as well. Not surprisingly, a manga tie-in is also planned for Dengeki Maoh’s April issue, which went on sale in late February 2015.
The cast includes Atsushi Abe as Tohru Kazasumi, Hisako Kanemoto as Kyoka Katagiri, Masakazu Nishida as Kyohma Katagiri, Miyuki Sawashiro as Remy Odhner, Kana Ueda as Rindo Sidune, Souichiro Hoshi as Ryo Kusakage, Rikiya Koyama as Akira Rakando, Sayaka Ohara as Olga Janetin, Takehito Koyasu as Aaron Burroughs, Yumiko Kobayashi as Jonathan Sizemore, Saki Fujita as ξ988, Yousuke Akimoto as Mondo Makabe, Saori Hayami as Lyudmila N Ignatova, Mariya Ise as Shinou Matsurika, Toru Ohkawa as Srinivasa Sen and Nana Mizuki as Kumi Minakata.
Plot concept: A.D. 2115 — the island nation once called Japan is now known as the “17th Far East Imperial City Management District.” The citizens were promised a life of peace in exchange for some of the comfort they were used to having. People believed their lives would never change and tomorrow will be the same as today. No one suspected the impending doom which their society was about to face… “Degradation”—a rare disease which led to the total disintegration of the human body to a mere pile of sand was slowly but surely spreading throughout the world. Tohru Kazasumi, an ordinary student becomes embroiled in a multi universal battle between his world and the parallel world of “Frontier S (Stratos).” This meant that Tohru must fight himself from an alternate world. Their futures collide as their paths cross. Will both worlds ever find peace?
