Hanabee Acquires ‘Captain Earth’ Australian Anime Rights Hanabee is bulking up their catalog a bit more with this spring 2014 anime series pickup as they’ve now added Captain Earth to their library. The twenty-five episode series is currently broadcasting in Japan and simulcasting while also getting added to Hanabee’s screening as well. Plans are for a home video release some time in 2015 as well, with materials dependent in terms of languages based on what the US release is like. This sci-fi mecha series is directed by Takuya Igarashi (Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, Star Driver ) with series composition by Yuji Enokido (Revolutionary Girl Utena, Ouran High School Host Club), Character design by Satoshi Ishino (Excel Saga, No. 6) and animation production by BONES (RahXephon, Xam’d: Lost Memories).

Sentai Filmworks has picked up the North American rights for this series.

Plot concept: With memories of his father’s inexplicable death haunting him, Daichi follows a mysterious rainbow and travels to Tanegashima Island to investigate. Arriving on the island with mixed emotions, Daichi runs into a boy named Teppei who asks why Daichi has returned to this island. Daichi knows he’s returned there to fulfill a promise. Now, with panic alarms sounding and an unruly force known as the Killtgang quickly approaching to attack, Daichi must suit up for the invasion.
