Crunchyroll has one of the goofier titled series of the season that boasts some strong credits to it with Captain Earth. The series debuted its first episode earlier today and will be releasing new episodes every Saturday at 2:00pm ET for premium members while free members will get them a week later. The series comes from the same team that worked on Star Driver and is set for an April debut. It’s set to be directed by Takuya Igarashi with scripts by by Yoji Enokido. Character designs are being done by Satoshi Ishino based on the original designs by Fumi Minato. Check out the full cast and staff breakdown below the video.
The series has some decent availability to it as it will be open to viewers in the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Latin America, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, France and Turkey.
Plot concept: One night right before summer vacation, Daiji Manatsu, a second-year in high school, sees a weird round rainbow floating in the sky above Seed Island (Shuushi/Tane Island) and ventures there alone. He has seen this rainbow before. With the memories of his father’s mysterious death and an encounter of a mysterious boy and girl, Daiji arrives on the island while the alarm of a building labeled “Earth Engine” is going off. Someone asks him “Are you a captain?” just as robotic intruders from Uranus called “Kiltgang” arrive. The battle around the shining stars is about to begin.
