After a little fun with Kasumi visiting the last time around, which got Wakasa out of the tub and into a kiddie pool for a bit, this episode gives us a small taste of the outside world with Tatsumi coming home only to find a seashell outside of his home. As it turns out, the shell actually has a friend of Wakasa’s in there named Maki, who is utterly afraid of the light with the way it blinds him. Maki is pretty dark in personality as well and also confused about the situation as he though Tatsumi was Wakasa’s girlfriend. Maki is definitely fun to watch with his personality and size, and the way he reacts to Tatsumi as time goes on, bringing a new friendship to life.

In Summary:
The introduction of Maki the snail is definitely a cute and fun piece, especially the whole cleaning sequence that is brief but utterly dirty. Maki’s fun with the way he talks and acts, giving it a rather dark and depressing feeling that’s certainly a contrast from the other characters that have come in. Even Wakasa has a hard time stomaching him from time to time as we see it play out. It’s a cute addition to the world, though it makes you wonder just how many different types of anthropomorphized characters exist in this work as it’ll make for a very busy world for Tatsumi to live in.
