With Amazing Spider-Man landing next summer as Sony relaunches the brand under a new direction and goes back to a younger Peter Parker, they’ve definitely got the confidence. This was already apparent as a sequel script was commissioned awhile ago once things came together with the main casting and all the pieces looked like they fit, but now Sony is making an even further commitment to the webslinger. They’ve staked out May 2nd, 2014 as the date when Amazing Spider-Man 2 will hit theaters. “I think it speaks volumes about our confidence in what we are seeing on the new film and our desire to move quickly on the next installment,” a Sony executive said when revealing the information over at Deadline .
