The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
With a little fun spent last time around in the series with the morality officer, this episode spends a bit more time at the start with the student council characters that are more interested in gaming than anything else. Amusingly, the show delves into a property called Saitama Ninja Ramen and we even get a little live action gag mixed into it and some cute dialogue about merchandise. For the most par though, it’s really just these two going back and forth for a good part of it until Usagi shows up thinking she smells something good cooking in there. Since it’s the ramen, the show turns into the whole waiting for it to be ready aspect and what they talk about while waiting. Suffice to say, it’s not exactly engaging in the slightest.
In Summary:
While there’s been any number of shows that spend time with characters talking about nothing or minor inconsequential things, Urawa no Usagi-chan is three minutes of emptiness for the most part. It has its cute moments and some of the things it does makes you smile lightly, but it feels insulting to fluff to call this fluff. Fluff generally has a little more going for it. While the premise is decent enough, and I was curious to see how it would promote the Urawa district in Saitama, it’s done almost nothing like that and is just another banal high school show.
