‘X-Files’ Event Premiere Set While it’s hard to say what level of anticipation is really there for the X-Files event series, it’ll definitely grow by the time it arrives as people reconnect with one of the more viral shows of the 90′s. Now, as part of Fox’s upfronts about the 2015-2016 season, they’ve revealed that the six episode event series will make its debut on January 24th, 2016 after the NFC Championship game that Sunday night. The show is going into production in June for the event and will wrap up fairly quickly overall considering its length in comparison to other series.

The second episode will debut on Monday the 25th at 8pm, where it takes over from Gotham for a bit, and serves as the lead in to Lucifer, which is debuting then as well and hopefully giving a boost to it.

“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” said series creator and executive producer Chris Carter when the show was first announced as coming back. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

Fox Television Group chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman, who were at the studio when the series first launched back in 1993, also had a bit to say about it back in March:

“We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of The X-Files – one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers – and we couldn’t be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again.”

“The X-Files was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture – yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as The X-Files, and we’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for.”
