What They Say:
“The Eclipse Project”
In the dragon graveyard, Arcadios explains to Fairy Tail what he needs from them to make Project Eclipse work. He takes them to the king’s palace, Mercurius, and shows them Eclipse, the actual portal designed to take a party back in time to kill Zeref! But not everyone in the kingdom is on board with changing history…
The Review: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Six guilds remain in the Grand Magic Tournament. In sixth place, Quatro Cerberus (or Quatro Puppy as they are known through the duration of the tournament, thanks to a bet between Elfman and Bacchus), in fifth is Blue Pegasus, sharing third is Mermaid Heel and Lamia Scale, in second is the favorite Sabertooth, and first is held by Fairy Tail with just a one point margin. Ousted from the tournament are the Fairy Tail B team, merged into Fairy Tail A, and Raven Tail for cheating and also being a dark guild.
Behind the scenes, much more is going on with the Eclipse plan. They plan to use the 12 Zodiac keys to open the Eclipse gate and go back in time 400 years to kill Zeref before he could ever gain any power. The idea is akin to going back in time to kill Hitler, but who knows what would happen if anyone ever did that. Would another rise up to take Zeref’s place as a great evil magic or would the world turn to a peaceful place?
That’s not a question the defense minister is willing to get an answer to, so he puts an end to the plan. He kicks Fairy Tail out of the palace, with everyone questioning why he even did that, and locks up Lucy and Yukino so they can’t interfere in any way.
Of course, Fairy Tail won’t stand for this. In the best case scenario, Fairy Tail wins the tournament, they’re exonerated of any charges, and Lucy is set free. But that’s in the best case. Who knows if that’ll actually happen, or even what will happen in the future?
In Summary:
Things are certainly…heating up…in Fairy Tail as we move closer and closer to not just the end of the Grand Magic Tournament, but the culmination of the Eclipse Plan. At current, we don’t know if Fairy Tail will be able to come out of the games unscathed (given Minvera’s past propensity to being overly violent), let alone if the Eclipse Plan will or will not destroy the world. The setup is perhaps running a little too long, but it’s an exciting watch, through and through.
