As the marriage rituals are worked through, it’s amusing to see how Ecalarte manages to get Kon to do several of the rituals for him, resulting in some dangerous if amusing situations. He’s pretty upset by the whole thing but there’s always enough tweaking going on to ensure that he can’t get out of it. While Kon certainly isn’t one of my favorite male leads, I do feel a little bad for him. But nowhere near enough to not want to see him go through more of these issues as time goes on. There’s something to be said for him having to suffer for the others as they are usually the ones suffering in some form because of him.

Unfortunately for Kon, since he’s started the rituals he can’t back out of them as it would be something that should cause his death, as per traditions. This means that everyone else gets to have a bunch of fun along the way, though they show some concern over his fate as he goes through all of these difficult things. This takes up a lot of time in the episode and as light, silly and basic escapist fare, it works rather well since the gags used are decent enough. Unfortunately, while Kon and Mairiandale were out arguing about things, they got spotted by Erec and his group, who are still pretty displeased about being fooled before. So now they’re all working towards dealing with the situation as best as they can.

Eventually the two sides end up in the same space and it just turns weird from there where they’re both trying to achieve something and running into the problem of a free economy. While there’s a lot they want to buy, it turns into highway robbery pretty quickly and Erec and his men continually find themselves in a pinch since so much is being bought up for Jugglabark’s wedding. With them all looking for dominoes, they end up dealing with a black market seller and it just goes from bad to worse there. But the real problem with it all is that it’s flat out uninteresting. While the opening half had some decent moments involving what Kon was suffering through, it just falls apart from there and turns into a real bore.

In Summary:
Ixion Saga DT continues to be one of the weakest shows I’ve seen in an age, though I completely get why some folks find it to be hilariously amusing. It continues to largely not work for me and episodes like this just reinforces it since it feels so without meaning or purpose. It starts off with some mildly fun material involving Kon and the abuse heaped upon him, but it just gets progressively weaker and the cliff dives after the halfway mark as Erec and his group of fools arrive on the scene. The series continues to be one largely of inertia for me at this point sa there should only be a handful of episodes left and then I can be done with it. Mostly because I want to see Kon get back home and have everyone there freak out and send him back.
